And as the world I pursue turns into a wasteland before its fruits can be reaped
And as the start of every struggle promises a new piece of enlightenment
And as the scholars dream of utopia coming with a new greater age
And as the current chapter wraps in a bittersweet conclusion of all threads
So shall the promises of the next chapter having anything at all go unanswered
So shall dystopia prevail at the whim of a sadistic aristocracy
So shall those enlightenments fade into dark as the malevolence of nature and humanity persist
So shall the world left behind find its own way with nothing left for the ones who walked away

I once dreamed of being a husk through disembowelment of the self
The fantasy of killing what I am and embracing my being nothing
As it turns out the mutilation came from something external and metaphysical
And as the fantasy finally comes alive I cling to what's left

Lucid images play out in my head of someone else's long gone life
Now asking for promises that can never be made of something new to become
The ultimate ambivalence can't be conceived until it's already consuming
My mind and my world view warps to perceive the beauty in the nihilistic chaos
I stand on the edge looking at what's coming, accepting inevitability
The undiscovered country from whose bourn no traveler returns
There is no guiding light- no turning back- no choice but to embrace the ego death
And as I plunge into the abyss so shall I become the abyss
